Have you ever felt like you didn’t have what it takes to do what God is calling you to? Do you find yourself feeling insufficient?

My wife and I are in the market for a new fence. After someone drove right through it in two different locations, we thought it was the right time for a new one. We decided that we wanted a horizontal style fence. So today I visited a few web sites and made a few calls to fence companies and contractors. I tried to get an estimate over the phone but I was unsuccessful. Contractors usually don’t give estimates over the phone, they insist on visiting the site. The reason is that they want to make sure they know what to build, how much material they need to build it and how long it would take, given the location.

It reminded me of God. Maybe you’ve been thinking that you’re unqualified for what God is calling you to. Whether it’s working in your job or raising a teen, many of us have felt unqualified. It’s important we remind ourselves that God created us. And much like a contractor, He has visited the site. He knew the challenges, the oppositions and our shortcomings. When He chose your purpose He factored in your health, your parents, the place you grew up, your education and yes, even your past failures, and still your purpose remains.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

God built you knowing what you would need for the purpose He is calling you to. We just need to make sure we’re with Him every step of the way.

What things has God called you to do, but you feel that you’re unqualified?

What are some things that God placed in you that are evidence of why you were built for what God is calling you to do ?
